2026-02-25 - 10:24

MANILA, Philippines – On February 25, 1986, Filipinos were able to cut off pieces of the barbed wire fence in Mendiola, which separated Filipinos from Malacañang, the country’s seat of power. Ferdinand E. Marcos had lost clout and was negotiating arrangements to flee the Philippines. People Power was nearing the Palace, and it was time for the dictator to go. Filipinos took pieces of the barbed wire as souvenirs of the time that we fought and won our democracy. Lian Buan reports. – Rappler.com
